Episode 22 – DJ Johnny Mac from Florida in the house.
With his family rooted in a foundation in the arts, it was rather natural for DJ Johnny Mac to find an ear for music at a young age. Growing up in Miami, FL, DJ Johnny Mac’s influences can be rooted in the “Miami Bass” era, Michael Jackson’s ability to make anyone dance, and the strong latin culture prevalent throughout South Florida. Johnny learned quickly what it took to make a crowd dance, and took this knowledge with him to Florida State University in 2004. He began promoting for various local venues in 2005, started DJing house parties soon after, and the rest is history.
DJ Johnny Mac’s popularity in the club scene has grown rapidly as his unique open format style, original edits, and high-energy performances built on mixing and mashing crowd favorites of all genres have landed him numerous full time residencies as well as being booked at numerous special events at Florida’s hottest venues from Panama City to Miami; including Ultra Music Festival, as well as throughout the East Coast. Today, while continuing to call Tallahassee, FL his base, DJ Johnny Mac can be heard weeknights as host of “The Big Nighttime Radio Show” on WHTF Hot 104.9, his personal edits and mixes can be heard weekly on 8 radio stations coast-to-coast through XMIX Radio, he is published weekly in the FMQB National Dance Radio Network, he works very closely with numerous record labels producing events for major artists (including David Guetta’s official “One Love” album release parties in Tallahassee and Miami), and continues to work on producing club bangers for all to enjoy.
Johnny Mac’s future plans include releasing original top 40 remixes under various labels, producing edits for release on crack4djs.net with the 914 hit squad, releasing his first single by Summer 2011, and spreading the message of love through music for many years to come!
