The BDTPodcast continues!!!! This week, DJ Steve Marsden! Haven’t heard of him, well….GET.FAMILIAR.
Steve knew he wanted to be in “the spotlight”. He wanted to be the dj who made people dance the way he did. His music careeer started when he was 13 playing guitar for punk music and droped tuned heavy metal band. He took it on tour, saw the country – it.was.glorious.
But it wasn’t until a friend of his turned him onto electronic music that he realized he wanted to be a DJ. His new found love for the underground parties at the “asylum” in Springfield, MA opened him up to a whole new world and he instantly fell in love with this whole new scene. The edgy, dirty aspect to the whole idea sold him and he was hooked on how something so simple could bring 5,000 people together.
From here, Steve decided it was time to retire the guitar and switch to the turntables….but his roots in punk helped influence his dj style.
Moving up the ranks as any DJ does over time, Steve moved from small house partys to the down and dirty warehouse parties, soon enough being recognized and getting Boston club gigs and eventually invited to partake as a featured DJ in a large Massachusetts based Rave. His DJ influences include party legends like b.rich, jay k., Damien Paul, DJ Voltran and Mike Swells.
His first (hopefully of many!) BDTPodcast will give you just a taste of his eclectic, upbeat “punk rooted” electronic dj personality and style.
Enjoy!
