Bio:
I have always loved music even before I ever knew about DJing. Over the years, I developed a very diverse taste in music, from alternative rock to hardcore techno. I was always listening to music every chance I could get, but I wanted to do more. I wanted to do something with music, not just listen to it. During my second year of college I finally decided to be a DJ. I picked up a used Numark mixer that served me pretty well for a couple years and a pair of Technics 1200s. I DJed at parties that my roommates and I put on, and parties that my friends put on.
For my first paid gig, I DJed at a bar that one of our college teams had rented out for a team party. I was still a beginner, but that’s when I knew I had to stick with it. They went crazy for every track I played and everyone had a great time. It was the first time I got that feeling that DJs live for – when the crowd is feeling you, you’re feeling the crowd, everything you do is for them and they’re dancing for you. That feeling never quite goes away once you’ve experienced it, and that’s what DJing is all about.
Since then I’ve had a variety of gigs, small and large. I’ve played at private parties for friends and local organizations, I’ve played at bars and clubs all over Chicago, I’ve worked with promoters, seen my name on flyers and mass mailed emails and eventually left the promoters to go solo for a while. For now I’m content with mostly just DJing at home for fun and the occasional gig for friends,
repeat customers and referrals. I’ll be back to the clubs soon enough, but for now you can enjoy my mixes online and on Grooveshark.
